FAQ

  • While there is much overlap between coaching and therapy, there are some important differences. Therapy is geared towards attending to mental health issues, past traumas, and emotional dysregulation and distress. Therapists are required to hold a license in the state they are practicing, commit to upholding high ethical standards and are also trained to deal with more serious mental health concerns such as suicidality and self-harm. Coaching is meant to support people in growing, expanding, and discovering the fullness of their life in specific areas such as personal, relationship, somatic or professional development. It is for people who feel safe enough inside to begin taking the steps to transform their world. If you begin working with a coach and discover some deeper mental health challenges, the coach would refer you to a therapist more equipped to support you.

  • Session costs are listed on the Rates page and range from $275 to $170 depending on whether it is an initial session, couples session, or an ongoing session. I accept credit cards, HSA, cash, and checks.

  • Life happens! If you need to cancel a session, let me know as soon as possible via text, email or phone call. In order to create a safe and sacred container around our time together, there is a no show and late cancellation fee. If an appointment/session is canceled with less than 24 hours notice there will be a Late Cancellation fee of $120.00. If you do not come to a scheduled appointment and fail to give any notice prior to the appointment (phone call, email, text, etc.) the full session fee will be charged.

  • I can see anyone who lives in Utah for therapy in person or via a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. If you live out of state, we can connect and discuss if Coaching or Authentic Movement are possibilities OR if it would be more beneficial to refer you to a therapist who is licensed where you live.

  • The flow of therapy is determined by each person’s needs and what they are hoping to address. For some, short term therapy is preferable, others may be drawn towards a longer term process. In the first session, we will work together to determine your needs and decide what will best serve you. We will continue assessing and talking about this throughout our work. We will consider finances, schedule, and personal preferences. Often, at the outset of therapy, it is helpful and recommended to come once a week for one or two months. This allows the therapeutic relationship to develop and for each person to get a feel for what is working and what isn’t. This is just a recommendation however. You are always in charge of how you engage in your healing process.

  • I am a provider for a few insurance plans (PEHP, DMBA, Select Health, and BCBS) until July 2025. You are encouraged to call your health care insurance to determine your benefits. After July 2025, I will no longer be taking insurance. Insurance has limitations and requires a view of illness and psychopathology. I have been finding this increasing at odds with my heart truth which holds humans as courageous and resilient - our struggles emerging as brilliant adaptations to difficult life circumstances. Thus, I am spiraling away from straddling the two worlds, so I can serve you from a more authentic place. I am happy to bill your insurance for out-of-network (OON) benefits or can provide you a superbill to submit to your insurance directly. If your plan offers OON benefits, you may receive re-imbursement from them.

  • Yes! If you are someone who is unable to afford my full fee, I will reduce the fee in exchange for volunteer work of your choosing. All you need to do is choose something important to you, send me verification of your service, and I will reduce my fee $15/hour for each hour you volunteer. The lowest rate I will accept per session is $140/hour. If you are interested in this option, please reach out to me for details as I have limited sliding scale spots available.
